That's all about Superheroes.

Atualizado: 18 de ago. de 2021

Nowadays, superheroes are a huge trend among a great number of fans of comic books, movies, and TV shows. Most of this is due to the creation of fictional universes full of a great variety of superheroes made by two famous and recognized comic books companies: Marvel and DC comics. Whether you're a kid, teenager, or adult, it's easy to get caught up enjoying the superhero world created by them.

Probably, you have already read or watched some of their productions. Who doesn't know Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, or The Flash? (DC Comics). What about Spider-man, Iron Man, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk? (Marvel Comics). Not to mention others.

What are superheroes?

Well, according to Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel Comics, "A superhero is a person who does heroic deeds and has the ability to do them in a way that a normal person couldn’t." Superheroes have exceptional powers. They do things that normal humans can't do.

A police officer, a firefighter, or a doctor could be considered a hero as they fight crime, save people in danger, and save lives, respectively. On the other hand, they couldn't be considered superheroes. Why not? Because they don't have superpowers; and that's exactly what separates ordinary humans from superheroes in terms of ability.

What are superpowers?

A superpower could be understood as a superhuman ability. That is, when humans do things that would be impossible for normal human beings to do, such as flying, becoming invisible, having inhuman strength or super speed, among others.

Although famous characters like Batman, Green Arrow, and Iron Man do not possess super abilities, they are classified as superheroes. They are not superhuman, but through hard training, technology, money, or extreme and cruel experiences, they could achieve abilities that make them be on the same level as the superheroes who have superpowers.

Other examples of superpowers: teleportation, telepathy - (ability to read minds), weather control, X-Ray vision, intangibility - (walking through walls), immortality, body manipulation, regeneration, invulnerability, Telekinesis - (moving things with the power of the mind).
